A mixed-shape set is a harder brief than a matched pair. Each cut returns light in its own way — a brilliant scintillates, a step cut gives broad flashes and long lines — so stones that measure alike on paper can still look mismatched in the ear. The work is in choosing pieces that read as one family across five different outlines.
